Essence of Freedom

The great thing:
The mind,
Unlike the body,
Is not encumbered;
From here,
In the city's
Dusty shell,
It is free
To soar
With eagles
Beyond the farthest mountains;
Free to explore universes
Beyond the constraints
Of time and place;
Free to author happiness
Beyond the hardships
Imposed in any epoch;
Perhaps free even
To transcend
The very threshold
Of death itself!
