Westslope cutthroats
Are especially precious:
Remnants of a species
Reduced to only
Two per cent
Of their original range,
They swim with
A genetic purity
Like no other.
Whenever one rises
To my fly,
I feel a sense of privilege
Far beyond
My powers of expression.
