Caution!
There are many reasons
To study nature.
Perhaps the principal one--
To discover
The interconnectedness
Of all living things.
With an understanding
Of the great web of life,
Comes an appreciation
For the wisdom
Manifest everywhere
In the natural realm.
If we are diligent
In our study,
We will learn
The peril of tinkering--
For we can never predict
The ramifications
Of a single action
Upon the entire
Web of life.
