Taylor Train in Wisconsin Rapids

Continuing the picture story of Sunday, July 2nd, in central Wisconsin.

The Taylor Train runs 6 days a week, except Saturday.
It arrives in Rapids about 11am.
From what I learned, only on Sundays they then run the power to Junction City to pick up containers from Hiawatha siding. About 2 pm they are back in Rapids and ready to assemble their train and head west to Taylor.

Their cars were stored in several sidings in the industrial park and on the stub of the old GBW main. By the time they leave town, they have over 100 cars.

This day they had a gray unit and an SD 45.

a simple map of the Northwest corner of Wisconsin Rapids.

The scenes below were taken at the spot labeled 25th street,
in the lower left corner of the map.

I would have gotten more pictures, but the camera batteries died. And with it on the pole, I didn't realize that until after I thought I had a ton of pictures.

The train has a variety of freight.
I usually think of most of it being hoppers for Taylor sand, and containers for Ashley Furniture (Arcadia, Wisconsin).

I took some overhead views of WC hoppers. (the camera wasn't working when the SD 45 came by . . .)

I suppose some of these pictures will end up on Bob's web site WC 2 Scale picture collection for Wisconsin Central modelers

This is the end of the picture pages of the adventures in Rapids. .
