My Kite aerial photography is handy for looking down, but even big kites seem far away and lost in the ground clutter.
I have fair luck with a horizontal camera aim. Get some sky behind the kites and some ground scenery.

A city park is next to the school field, making this a very large flying area.
I should have taken some pictures from the ground upwards, sometimes the sky seemed full of kites. At least it seemed full when walking my line and camera between them.
The wind slowed down to 3/4 flag in the afternoon, and it was safe enough to send up my Rok. Got a real comparison between kite types by seeing so many fly in the same wind. My Rok was far steadier than any other, just like other people reported on the internet kite sites. Although I noticed the wind was gusty and variable at the heights most kites were at. I sent my kite up twice as high, and the wind was steadier there, and less speed.
I guess I'll get me a little 54 inch Rok some month soon, to fly on the higher-wind days when I don't need all the horsepower of the 84 inch Rok.
Craig Wilson, a master of Kite Aerial Photography, knows the calmer days are most enjoyable. But somedays I only have a little time available. I might not get the chance to visit an area again for a long time.

My little camera can't do these kites justice.
So graceful.

This indoor kite is BIG,
yet glides at walking speed.
It even flies forward or backward with just a tug on the string.
