Veterans Park is by the train depot on the south side of the city of Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
A low view from the ground gets some clear sky outlining the cannon.

I thought this looked older than 1897.

The sun came out from behind some high clouds, and from behind a tree.
I set up my pole for an overhead view. The grass would make a nice simple background. I sent the camera up about 20 feet.
| The picture has some nice shadows. I thought maybe this would be better if the ground was covered in snow. But this area would always be in the shade of trees if this was any earlier in the year. If we get a snow storm in April, followed by a brilliant sun set, maybe I could repeat this scene. |
