Springville Pond in March

Test flying the rokkaku kite and camera.
Unusually warm day for March, 55 degrees F. South wind 8 mph and less. Tree tops barely wiggled. So light a wind at ground level that I had to run the kite for two blocks down the curved street to get it above the tree tops and into some wind. Then walked it back to the shoreline.

Attached camera on line at 80 yards below the kite.
Sent all up with another 100 yards of line.

I see some potential future pictures in the reflections of the melting pools. This pond is narrow and 15 feet below ground level. Maybe the surface will be calm enough to see sky reflections, yet I would have enough wind to fly the kite.

I home-made my string reel from a discarded wire spool. But the cardboard core inside got crushed as I wound my 150 lb-test line.

Will repair it on a rainy day (tomorrow).

The camera is on a timer, taking a picture every 20 seconds. But about one third I deleted because of poor aim (guess from the ground), and another third were blurred (usually while moving the kite or line to new location). Brief sunshine through overcast sky helped greatly to get rid of the blurrs.
