Close enough to see the details, high enough to be interesting, and a view that is still recognizable. Useful for showing the front and backyard of real estate, all in one picture. Great for showing waterfront property because the water may show in the picture. I usually do building photography and scenery, and don't often do 'people pictures'. Although photos of large groups is a possibility. A camera looking from above can show everyone's faces. Useful for re-unions, picnics, and convention gatherings.

An overhead view can put a fresh look into a familiar subject.

And some subjects are naturally large, and a tall view point can show their character and perspective.

I have been doing Pole Aerial Photography as a hobby for over 20 years.
My extendable poles with a camera on top gives views from above.

Less expensive than renting aerial man-lifts or utility bucket trucks.
And I can set it up on any location that can be walked to.
The equipment is reasonably portable.
If I can walk to the site, I can raise a pole and take pictures.
